With such a large city area there are an endless number of excellent attractions as well as comfortable Seoul hotels and an efficient transport network making it perfect for visitors.
One of Seoul's biggest attractions is its dedication to culture and there are over a hundred museums to pique your curiosity. With such an interesting and rich history there are several museums charting the country's history such as the Seoul History Museum, the Korean Folk Museum and the intriguing Kimchi museum, dedicated to the history of Korean food. One of the best museums for learning about the history and culture of Korea is the National Museum of Korea. The museum contains thousands of relics, works of art and exhibitions about the countries past and present. The city also has a range of museums dedicated to art including the Seoul Museum of Art and the Ilmin Museum of Art which features three exhibition halls full of beautiful Korean art. All of these museums are easily accessed by the city's subway and many are located close to many of Seoul hotels making visits as simple as possible.
Another way to experience Korea's interesting history is to visit one of Seoul's palaces, previously home to the countries ruling dynasties. One of the largest and grandest palaces in the city is the Gyeongbok-gung palace. The palace features intricate decoration and traditional Korean architecture as well as housing two fascinating museums. Another stunning palace is Changdeok-gung, which is a UNESCO world heritage site. The palace was the seat of power for over two hundred years and offers English language tours for visitors. There are also a number of temples located within the city giving a glimpse of Korea's religious culture. The most popular temple for visitors dedicated to the Buddhist faith is BongEunSa. Located in pleasant surroundings, the temple hosts intriguing buildings as well as a number of beautiful statues of Buddha. The temple features a number of walking paths and also offers the chance to experience the life of a monk with its special program. For another example of a working temple Jogyesa is an important center for the religion. The city is also home to a shamanist temple located on the verdant Mount Inwang. The temple features a bell pavilion with a shamanist shrine, a traditional bronze bell and curious rock formations which are known as the Crouching Tiger and Benevolent King.
As well as a number of cultural and historical attractions, Korea is also an ideal location for shopping. There are a number of options for clothes shopping in the city including the upmarket Apgujeong area which features the exclusive Galleria department store. Interesting, contemporary fashion shops can also be found in Hongdae and a wide variety of home grown and international fashion shops are located in the Myeongdong region. There is also a shopping center located in Gangnam-gu called the COEX center, which is an impressively large complex encompassing a number of retail outlets as well as other entertainment facilities such as video game arcades and museums. For a more traditional shopping experience there are a number of markets with the largest being Namdaemun market which sells traditional crafts, accessories, clothing and delicious food. There is an electronics market at Yongsan which is the perfect place for picking up interesting technology at excellent prices.
The city of Seoul is also home to several fun amusement parks which are perfect for little visitors. One of the most exciting parks is Everland.
